Fabulous articles.

I read at least an article or two every day. It is most definitely a great value for money.

There were many instances when I loved reading but the one which was actually speaking my mind out was the article written by Jamima Kelly “ We should stop worshipping at the altar of convenience”.

Amazing. Loved it. Wish I could write a winning review for her article but sadly couldn’t because my English is very poor in comparison to all the wonderful writers at FT.

A Good Start but …..

This has the potential to be an excellent app, but there are several issues. Firstly why no iPad version?. This would be ideal for the iPad format. Secondly why does the FT get to choose the articles? There are usually one or two that interest me but the others don’t. But the app gives me no idea of what else is on the FT and which I might be tempted to subscribe to. Why doesn’t the app show the full range of the FT articles and let the user choose no more than 8? That way users may well be tempted to choose to subscribe to the full digital subscription. Keep going, developers, there’s hope ahead!

Update:
Been reading it for a few weeks now and I’m a bit bemused by the eccentric choice of articles. Today’s included a “Lunch with Jarvis Cocker” which appeared in the print version last Saturday - four days ago. Who is choosing these articles? I’ve not seen one by Gideon Rachman yet. As I’ve said already, let us choose the articles up to a maximum of 8 then the app would be really good.

Lazy, uninteresting app with bewildering omissions

The whole premise of - unrelated articles - released in daily drops -grouped together by nothing, save a sense that these are “good” or will “cut through the noise” Is both lazy, played out, and has been done better elsewhere (Quartz, Economist Espresso, and many other daily briefing products) The UX is poor, you can’t swipe through articles or change font size, and the whole app feels slow and ponderous for an experience so slight. It leaves me wondering, why does this need to exist? It certainly doesn’t give a good first impression of the FT. The overwhelming sensation is of a lazy cash grab, attempting to reach those who can’t/don’t want to pay the full price of the FT. But that’s a business goal, not a consumer need, and very few of those are being served by this app.

Thank you for your comment. We are listening to all feedback and will be continuing to make improvements to the app.
